Apec story. (wordy post)
Okay so i have completed 2 shifts of my duties at the airport.Basically day 1 wasnt much of an experience, more like meetingnew people, making lotsa friends. Day 2 which was today, was longerr for me, as i was stationed atTerminal 2 instead of the isolated terminal 3.Terminal 3, was really empty and all, so we had the chance to chit chat. and i get to know lots of interesting stuff about my friends.Firstly, not all of them were about my age, even though most of them are,but i talked with this lady aged 31, she is a hindu, but has lived in Taiwanfor 25 years. whoa.and she studied in an international school, so she speaks good English.all in all she can converse in 4 languages, including chinese. amazing.more interesting facts.Today i teamed up with two different people, both aged 21 and 25. but when we got to know each other better,we managed to talk to each other on the same level. in fact i felt comfortable talking to them, they're very nice.Sometimes i feel that they are 17 yr olds just like me, they are young at heart. haha.hmm today was much better than yesterday, even though i was more drained than ever today. My teammate actually used the free OTO feet massage while we were waiting for flights to arrive. it was actually forbidden. haha.we were supposed to maintain the image of Apec ambassadors the whole day. -.-encounters. yes, definitely i met a few delegates fromBrunei, Australia (i like), Korea, and also Taiwan.I really have so much to talk about, but i'll try to summarize. haha. When u do this duty u have to be really patient and positive.seriously, it matters. oh well this morning at 8 plus i was a little moody, partly cos i was stationed alone. so i was bored. and then this police officer shouted "morning!" to me from across theimmigration hall and that made my day. little things. (:
oh yea, i was stationed right before the passengers queue for immigration
inside the arrival hall. so i was able to walk around the duty-free area for some time during
flight intervals. (:
Ohh another interesting fact. What's up with Korean couples and their couple tees?
there was a flight from Seoul today, and i saw many Korean couples- wearing similar stuff.
Couple tees,caps,jeans,bags,jackets and even shoes.
and then i was confronted by a pair whom i thought wanted to ask me
for directions, but they turned out to be here for Apec.
The funny thing is that most of them who were here for Apecdidnt expect to be welcomed. so they thought there is some kind of procedurethat they have to go through, when there isnt. we are just there to ensure that they feel welcomed and wouldnt get lost.really, i'm quite surprised that many foreigners could not find their way even to the baggage claim area. no wonder it's so important to know the duty-free area very well.On the first day i saw Jiale and Wanting, they ended their shifts at 6am.and they looked totally drained. While Kacie did the midnight shift on friday. another shift for this weekend and i'm done. i kinda enjoyed doing this so far, made friends from the diff polys, and of course people from different backgrounds. (:when u have so many hours of working together, you'll surely get to know each other better.too bad we didnt snap a few pictures as memories. i'll always remember those laughters and jokes. haha.okaay, i shall stop here. haha. i need to rest already, bye. (:
Watch me while i fly,♥♥ 11:37 PM.
