it has been said in the papers about the dragonboating tragedy.5 paddlers from the national team had died because the boat had capsized at a river in Cambodia.
I think that it is very sad,as the team had together participated in the competition held in Cambodia,and that they had actually finished the whole thing.
But just imagine this;
if you were one of the paddlers in the boat,and had went through everything with ur mates,and that at the end of the race,some of your mates will never be with you again.
The other paddlers who survived had also been in the waters,i bet also struggling for their lives.Dragonboating is very tiring,especially after a race,and ur arm might not be as strong as before.
So,I guess the paddlers who died did not have the energy to swim for their lives or fight against the strong waves.
It's really sad,isnt it?
I have tried dragon boating myself,during GG camp.
Even though I tried it for only 1 time,it was tiring,esp for the arms.
The thing about dragon boating is,it's all about TEAMWORK.
Everyone does their part.Everyone puts in 100% effort and the boat will row smoothly.
So the relationship bonding is really strong.
That's the thing,imagine if ur partner beside you isnt there anymore at the end of the day,after a race of their combined efforts.It must have been really traumatic for most of the surviving paddlers.
I feel sorry for the all the paddlers of the national team.
It must be really hard for them now.We should really respect them,as they were representing spore in the race.
But somehow in life,we will realise that there will be something bitter and sour for us to swallow.But we just have to.We can't change the facts,that's for sure.
